Nacido en 1971 en Castellfollit de Riubregós (Barcelona), realizó estudios de Gestión y Dirección Hostelera en la Escuela Superior de Hostelería y Turismo de Sant Pol de Mar (Barcelona). Siguió su aprendizaje, en los años noventa en Bélgica, después en el restaurante familiar y más tarde en Laguiole (Francia), donde adquirió los conocimientos que marcarían para siempre su cocina. Posteriormente regresa al restaurante familiar de El Racó d'en Freixa y allí alcanza su primera estrella Michelin en 1998. En 2001 y 2007 la guía Gourmetour le concede a Ramón el premio al Mejor Cocinero y al Mejor Restaurante de España, en 2002 se lleva el galardón al Mejor Carro de Quesos y en 2003 a la Mejor Oferta de Postres. Añade a sus tareas la de ser cabeza visible del restaurante Ávalon del Grand Hotel Central de Barcelona, pero sigue con el legado imprescindible de su padre y en 2009, al negocio familiar, le da un giro centrándolo en la cocina tradicional catalana, pasando a llamarse Freixa Tradició. En 2009 aterriza en Madrid, donde abrirá su restaurante Ramón Freixa Madrid que a los pocos meses recibe su primera estrella Michelin y en 2010 la segunda.
