Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone tells the story of an orphaned boy who lives with his aunt and uncle, who mistreat him and hide the truth about his parents and, therefore, about his past. When he turns 11, he receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry inviting him to study there. So he finally discovers the truth: his parents were wizards and died at the hands of Lord Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard of all time, who died trying to kill him and that is why Harry Potter is known as "the boy who survived". Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a book that introduces you to the magical world of Harry Potter, where you are likely to become addicted to his story, making you want to read them all. This novel is aimed at a young audience, so it is a fairly straightforward and simple but very effective read. In my opinion it has a fast pace, because when you want to realize you are already finishing the book. And although it is a book aimed at a young audience, you can enjoy it as a child, a teenager or an adult, and I think it is one of the best books to introduce you to the world of reading. Another point in favour of this book is that we are presented with a fascinating world, a magical world full of magical creatures, incredible landscapes, spells... But it is not a world that is completely established and that we as readers are the ones who discover it, but in this book, Harry Potter was completely unaware of this world, and was therefore a "normal" person. So we as readers, together with him, are going to get to know and discover this whole magical world, which creates a kind of complicity between the protagonist and the reader that allows us to empathise more with him. I should also point out that although the whole book is centred on Harry Potter and for practically the whole novel we only see what happens when he is there, personally I feel that there is a whole world behind the pages, that things are happening even if we don't read them, and therefore I think the world-building is excellent. The originality of the writer's ideas is fascinating, for example the quidditch, which is the sport played in the wizarding world comparable to football in real life, is incredible, and you can tell that she is a writer full of ideas. The only negative point of this book is that during the whole book the story is kept at a pleasant pace except at the end where many events happen. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a book that I recommend 100%, I give it 5 stars.
